ISRO Scientist P Veeramuthuvel Felicitated at Amazing Indians Awards 2023

At the Amazing Indian Awards 2023 ceremony held on September 29, 2023, ISRO scientist P Veeramuthuvel, the Project Director of Chandrayaan-3, was felicitated for his outstanding contributions. The awards aim to honor individuals who have achieved uncommon feats despite being “common.” Veeramuthuvel was recognized for his work on the Chandrayaan-3 mission, along with Dr. Nigar Shaji, the Project Director for the Aditya-L1 Mission.

In his speech, Veeramuthuvel discussed his journey of joining ISRO and his aspirations to work with the organization from an early age. He described taking up numerous challenging projects after becoming an engineer. Additionally, he shared his experiences as the Project Director for Chandrayaan-3 and expressed the team’s primary goal of developing reliable soft-landing technology for lunar missions.

Reflecting on the setback faced during the Chandrayaan-2 mission, Veeramuthuvel emphasized the team’s determination to learn from their mistakes and make sure they achieved a successful landing this time. To address the challenges, the team conducted a series of tests to simulate the lunar environment on Earth and develop the necessary modules.

Veeramuthuvel concluded his speech by highlighting the resilience and fighting spirit of the ISRO team. Despite setbacks, they always bounce back with renewed vigor, and this spirit was crucial for their lunar mission.

The Amazing Indians Awards recognizes inspiring individuals from various fields, including agriculture, healthcare, rural development, and technology. The winners are chosen by a distinguished jury comprising General Naravane, Prasoon Joshi, Ritesh Agarwal, Anand Kumar, Dr. S. Rangarajan, and Sonam Wangchuk.
