Servotech Power Systems Collaborates with IIT-Roorkee to Develop Onboard E-Chargers for Electric Vehicles

Servotech Power Systems Ltd (SPSL) has announced its partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT-Roorkee), to develop onboard e-chargers for battery-operated two-, three-, and four-wheelers. In addition to this, another agreement will focus on the development of rectifier units that have applications in the import segment.
The first memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between SPSL and IIT-Roorkee will focus on developing state-of-the-art rectifier units for CCS2 chargers. The CCS2 charger, which is currently imported, requires a rectifier unit as an integral component. The collaboration aims to boost domestic manufacturing capabilities and promote growth within the domestic electric vehicle (EV) industry.
The second MoU aims to develop onboard EV chargers that are specially designed to be mounted directly onto two-, three-, and four-wheelers. These compact and lightweight chargers eliminate the need for a separate charging unit, making charging more convenient and efficient for EV users.
Raman Bhatia, the Managing Director of Servotech Power Systems, expressed his excitement about the collaboration and stated, “The company will now be manufacturing high-quality onboard chargers. This development strengthens our commitment towards making Make in India.”
Servotech Power Systems, an NSE-listed company, is already a leading manufacturer of EV chargers, solar products, and other items. Their collaboration with IIT-Roorkee is another step towards their vision of establishing a strong manufacturing presence in the EV industry.
In recent times, SPSL has been actively pursuing expansion opportunities in the EV sector. In August, the company signed an agreement with the Uttar Pradesh government to set up an EV charger manufacturing plant in the state with an investment of INR 300 crore. This move aligns with the Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Manufacturing and Mobility Policy 2022, aimed at promoting the adoption of EVs in the state.
These collaborations and investments by Servotech Power Systems reflect the growing importance of domestic manufacturing capabilities for EV-related products in India. With this development, the company is poised to play a significant role in the country’s transition towards sustainable transportation.
